India’s victory by 3-0 in Third One-Day International seals the series in favour of IndiaIndia won by 147 runs and beat Sri Lanka in the Third One Day International held in Colombo, yesterday on February 3rd. With this victory, India has taken an unbeatable 3-0 lead in the one-day series in Sri Lanka. However Muttiah Muralitharan took his 502nd wicket in his 327th match and equaled the record of Wasim Akram. Sri Lanka folded for 216 in 41.4 overs and Pragyan Rajan, the left-arm spinner did maximum harm to Sri Lanka’s team by claiming 4 for 38. 

 

After winning the toss, India chose to bat and gave a target of 363 runs to Sri Lanka with a superb duo batting score of Virender Sehwag (116) and Yuvraj Singh (117). Sri Lankan players also gave a good start but could not continue with the tempo as they started loosing their wickets. The only moment of joy for Sri Lanka was when Muralitharan took the wicket of Yuvraj Singh and equaled Wasim Akram’s world record. Jayasurya and Mahela Jayawardhene were of hope for the hosts but they went back to pavilion quite early.

 

Though Indian team also had a shivering start with Sachin Tendulkar and Gautam Gambhir declared out, but Sehwag and Yuvraj Singh saved the team and took it to the heights.
